Major Medical eLearning Site Launched

eStrokeHomePageeStrokeCTScan

Just launched at www.estroke.com.au, eStroke is an online eLearning resource designed to improve knowledge, confidence, capability and access to stroke-specific education for health professionals.

Early research relating to the eStroke project revealed that just 2 hours of specific training for Emergency Room health providers in stroke diagnosis and treatment resulted in a significant decrease in stroke-related deaths.

The eStroke website delivers that training in a self-paced, interactive eLearning environment with each eLearning chapter written by an expert in each particular field that includes extensive peer review.

Health professionals are guided through the key aspects of stroke diagnosis and treatment, with various tests and quizzes and a comprehensive results system that measures results and potential need for additional information and training.

Interactive features include high-quality online videos that take clinicians through the stroke examination process and the effect stroke has on family and friends, as well as an innovative online CT Scan viewer that simulates a real CT scan of a patient’s brain, teaching clinicians how to identify the various forms and degrees of stroke.

The eStroke site is powered by the Eye Media WebInterprise content management system that now includes an eLearning module that facilitates the editing and creation of online training content, questions, responses and results.

Behind the scenes is an extensive statistical evaluation system that will help to drive ongoing stroke education initiatives with data based location and by category of health care professional.

eStroke is the result of a successful collaboration between Eye Media Australia, Department of Health, Victorian Stroke Clinical Network and Stroke Society of Australasia.
